Several Problems With Upcoming MI IV

Posted by: entertainmentnewsonline

Paramount Pictures reportedly fears Tom Cruise's name could not lift up his upcoming movie "Mission: Impossible IV".

According to Deadline Hollywood, the studio will be closely watching the performance of "Knight & Day" which also stars the 47-year-old actor and has been unleashed in the U.S. on June 23.

The site reports, if "Knight & Day" fails at Box Office, the studio might kill the upcoming movie "despite Cruise's action hero character".

Though so, Paramount insiders inform that no decisions have been made yet.

However, the studio allegedly has many things to be considered before axing the project.

Thus, as an alternative if they want to go ahead with the fourth "Mission: Impossible" film, the filmmakers reportedly will add a subplot that introduces a new, younger protege for Cruise's character, Ethan Hunt.

Since it is still a rumored plan, there has been no word on who will portray the new character.

Paramount has tapped Brad Bird to serve as director for "Mission: Impossible IV" with J.J. Abrams producing alongside Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner.

Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec, meanwhile, are slated to write the screenplay.

This action movie has been given a release date of December 16, 2011, pushed back from the old slot of May 27 in the same year.

Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 Script Found In Cafe

Posted by: entertainmentnewsonline

The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides script has been found in a London cafe.

A copy of the top-secret storyline was found in the British eatery by a fan, after film bosses stopped for lunch and forgot to take the important document with them.

However, the finder - who is a huge fan of the $2 billion pirate film franchise - refused to look at the document because he wanted to watch the latest adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, when it's released in May next year.

He told The Sun: "I resisted the urge to have a read. I want to enjoy the movie when it comes out."

Filming of the highly-anticipated fourth movie started in Hawaii yesterday, and follows the disheveled pirate on his search for the Fountain of Youth.

After discovering the 194-page documents, the man handed them into the British publication, which returned them to Walt Disney Pictures - who are financing the film.

The film will also star Penelope Cruz as Angelica, an exotic beauty from the hunky pirate's past.

Green Hornet Remake To Be In Cinemas Early 2011

Posted by: entertainmentnewsonline

Green Hornet fans are holding their breath this week as a the trailer for a new movie based on the 1930s radio serial hits the Web.

Slated for release in January 2011 and starring Seth Rogen as the title character and Taiwanese pop star Jay Chou as his stoic manservant Kato, "The Green Hornet" will also feature Cameron Diaz and acclaimed "Inglourious Basterds" baddie Christoph Waltz.

And, naturally, it will be in 3-D.

As the trailer shows, Rogen stars as an over-privileged newspaper scion who has to face responsibility after his father is murdered.

He responds to this tragedy in true superhero form: He dons a mask and a fedora, teams up with a Kung-Fu fighting manservant, and rolls through Los Angeles in "Black Beauty," a 1965 Chrysler Imperial outfitted with machine guns and rockets.

A Green Hornet summer blockbuster has been percolating for a long time. In the 1990s, rumors abounded that George Clooney and martial artist Jason Scott Lee were lined up to play the leads.

Then it was Jake Gyllenhaal and Jet Li.

Eventually, the powers that be settled on an unconventional choice: Rogen, a Canadian comic actor best known for portraying amiable schlubs in such movies as "Pineapple Express" and "Knocked Up."

Based on the trailer, can we say if the film be any good? Gawker thinks not. "We have seen this movie so many times before," sniffed Brian Moylan. "[J]okey rich guy, stoic Asian butler who does kung-fu, explosions—this thing is basically just Batman mixed with Rush Hour with some Bad Boys thrown in for good measure. How original!"

The Guardian's Ben Child is more cautious in his assessment.

Encouraged by the choice of French-director Michel Gondry, who is not known for directing action films, Child is nonetheless wary.

He writes:

"It's hard to tell if there's anything remarkable going on from the trailer. In terms of tone, The Green Hornet looks a lot like the previously mentioned Pineapple Express (a passable action comedy) with added superhero stuff. Perhaps it's unreasonable to expect too much, given the limitations of the genre, but with the talent on display, I was hoping for something a little more ... well ... radical."

Still, the film has promise: Even though "superhero" doesn't immediately leap to most people's minds when they think of Seth Rogen, the Canadian comic is perfectly suited to portraying feckless trust-fund baby Britt Reid.

Whether he can hold up as a gas-gun toting vigilante remains to be seen.

And maybe there's some new ground being broken here.

As our theaters are clogged with endless rehashes of 80s franchises, it's refreshing – if not a bit startling – to see a 1930s radio serial greenlit for a major film.

Seriously, what was the last film you saw based on a radio program?

Okay, we'll give you "A Prairie Home Companion," and, because we're feeling generous, "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy."

But those aren't really the same thing.

The closest parallel in recent years has been the 1994 movie based on "The Shadow" starring Alec Baldwin, which, while visually striking at times, was almost instantly forgettable. Will the Hornet have more staying power?

You'll have to wait until the movie's release next January.

Salma Hayek Is Back

Posted by: entertainmentnewsonline

Maybe the comedy bug hit Salma Hayek when she produced and guest-starred on the hit series Ugly Betty, and followed that with her cheeky recurring nurse role on the acclaimed sitcom 30 Rock.

Hayek's career is usually defined by more dramatic roles, including her Oscar-nominated portrayal of artist Frida Kahlo in the biopic Frida.

Yet, these days, she seems to be on a comedy roll.

The 43-year-old takes another leap into the humour pool co-starring in Adam Sandler's Grown Ups, which opens on Friday, and features Sandler's Saturday Night Live buddies who never let a serious moment get in the way of a good ad lib.

In the Dennis Dugan-directed comedy, Sandler plays a successful talent agent while Hayek defines his work-obsessed, clothes designer wife.

They both take a break from their busy schedules to attend a lakeside resort reunion with Sandler's childhood friends who were members of a small town basketball team.

Those "grown up" friends include Sandler's SNL cohorts Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider plus Kevin James - who never appeared on SNL as a regular but has appeared in four Sandler movies, most notably, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry in 2007.

Obviously, improvisation was the only constant on set, but Sandler says he figured Hayek was up to the challenge of responding spontaneously to all the impromptu banter.

"We've talked about doing a movie for a long time and Salma was finally available for this one," says Sandler. "She was almost in Zohan (You Don't Mess With The Zohan) and a bunch of other ones, but they didn't time out right."

The timing was right for Grown Ups - as was Hayek's comedic timing. Not that she worried about it too much.

"I said yes to this movie at the beginning just because I am an Adam Sandler fan and I really liked the script, and I am glad now this is my first big comedy," says Hayek. "You want to do movies that your children can watch, and also that your children can have fun with, and enjoy the experience of shooting it."

There was almost a conflicting distraction.

In February of 2009, Hayek married French billionaire businessman Francois-Henri Pinault, and is now based in Paris.

They have a daughter, Valentina, born in September of 2007.

But the Grown Ups show went on as planned. Hayek even brought along her daughter to the sets in and around Boston where the movie was shot last year.

"We all brought our children to the set," she notes. "Adam makes it like the dream environment to have children there. They make it so highly entertaining, but you're nervous when you think about going back home because you wonder how are you going to entertain your child that way."

Born in Veracruz, Mexico, Hayek was a slow starter early in her career, but at 23 she became an instant Mexican celebrity as the headliner in the TV soap Teresa.

She followed that up with film work over the next few years but always had ambitions for a career north of the border after taking acting classes with the renowned Stella Adler in L.A.

Despite her difficulty learning English at first, she was hired by Robert Rodriguez to play opposite Antonio Banderas in 1995's Desperado, and never looked back.

After that, she found herself looking for a niche.

Fools Rush In, her first try at romantic comedy with Matthew Perry, didn't work.

While she did receive decent notices for her vampire queen "snake dance" part in Rodriguez's From Dusk Till Dawn, her next co-starring role, in the big-budget Will Smith flick Wild Wild West, failed to live up to expectations.

Three years later, a determined Hayek made things happen for herself as the co-producer and star of the Oscar-celebrated Frida.

Since then she hasn't stopped producing, directing and acting.

Her marriage last year won't change that.

"We actually acquired a couple of other franchises from Latin America," says Hayek who transformed a Colombian TV soap opera into Ugly Betty. "I'm not going to say the names because I don't know if they're going to make it all the way to the screen."

On the movie front, Hayek will co-star opposite Johnny Depp in Wild Roses, Tender Roses, about 20th century Mexican bandit revolutionary Pancho Villa, based on James Carlos Blake's biographical novel, The Friends of Pancho Villa, which begins shooting early next year.

"It's an amazing film and that's like a dream job as an actress," says Hayek who's also in discussions with Grown Ups co-star Kevin James to do an action comedy.

Currently, she's doing the voice of Kitty, the love interest of Antonio Banderas' Puss in Boots, which will be the animated spin off to Shrek set for a much anticipated release next year.

"Yes, this is like the fifth film that we've done together," she says of Banderas.

"And again, I'm so excited because my daughter gets to see me in an animation movie," she adds. "Most of my recordings have been in Paris, so it is a dream job."

Bradley Cooper To Play In New Baseball Movie

Posted by: entertainmentnewsonline

Bradley Cooper is to star in a new baseball movie about triumph in the face of adversity.

The Hangover star has been cast in the untitled Disney film written by Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps scribe Allan Loeb, The Hollywood Reporter reveals.

Bradley will portray a baseball player who gets injured and has to go back to the minors where the only place he can find to live is in an old people's home.

There, he meets an old baseball guru who helps him get back on top.

Producer Andrew Panay concocted the idea for the dramedy and signed up Loeb to write it, and with A-Team star Bradley attached to star, Disney has snapped up the rights.

The project is said to be in the vein of Scent Of A Woman - which starred Chris O'Donnell as a young assistant to blind lothario Al Pacino - and The Rookie, an inspirational sports drama starring Dennis Quaid, which Disney released in 2002.

Jennifer Aniston Also To Appear In 'Wanderlust'

Posted by: entertainmentnewsonline

It seems Jennifer Aniston is experimenting with her clean image as lately the actress has signed two back to back films in which she will be playing a raunchy character.

After agreeing to play a sex-obsessed dentist in her next forthcoming flick, ‘Horrible Bosses' Aniston is set play a swinging pothead in another upcoming movie, ‘Wanderlust' which also stars her ‘The Object of My Affection' co-star Paul Rudd.

Both of the raunchy movies which are scheduled to be released in 2011 are expected to have the former ‘Friends' star swearing, stripping and swinging.

In the movie, ‘Wanderlust', Aniston and Rudd are set to play a wacky New York couple who long for a home of their own.

But the economy and their faltering careers force them to live with Rudd's intolerable brother in Georgia.

While moving to Georgia, they stop at B&B which turns out to be a commune.

There they meet nudists, smoke pot and take part in an orgy.

Aniston and Rudd's characters decide to live on the commune, where they end up opening a book publishing company.
